As we head into 2016, I have a few exciting things planned for this year. Next to the usual I-want-to-travel-the world-and-own-an-entire-Chanel-store ideas, I set myself the goal to compete for the first time in a bikini shape contest. I’ve worked pretty hard the past months and now it’s time to take things to the next level. New year, new goals, better me. So let’s get serious, now that the festivities are officially over. While I have my focus set and got back on track, you might, however, not have started yet and even if we’re on the fourth day of January, it’s not too late to start your year off on the right foot. Here’s a few, very simple, ideas that I stick to and that will enrich your daily life and make you feel better.
I always try to be positive. An optimistic attitude spiced with the right amount of energy and a clear focus will lead to the goals sooner or later. With a target like mine, doubter and detractors will eventually pop up and will try to get me off track and bring me down. Which is why I took the decision to surround myself with people who reflect who I want to be. You know that good energies can be contagious right? I currently have the best team around me, with people that empower each other, lift each other up and share this same passion for fitness and health. They understand what the whole thing is about and instead of giving me an attitude ( or a cookie that I’m not allowed to eat) they encourage me to keep going and support me in my dreams.
And this is exactly the type of people you should have in your life too. Try to find friends that are just as passionate about something as you are, or that, at least, understand what’s important to you. This is the type of people you need, those that stand behind you and your choices, not those that are sneering and talking behind your back. Negativity won’t lead nowhere but to frustration and given up dreams. And this is not how you want your year 2016 to be ,right?
Taking small steps is also a good way I stay on track. I wake up each day trying to be a bit better than the previous day. Even if it’s only that one or other sip of water more, going to bed a few minutes earlier, eating all of my broccoli instead of leaving that last little piece to itself or making that last repetition at the gym count even more. Small things lead to big improvements, so take each and every day step by step.
I also believe that everything happens for a reason. Embrace all those challenges you come across because everything worth having will, at some point, require a smaller or a bigger effort.
Enjoy the ride and if you don’t then just leave those things out that don’t make you happy, and the same goes for people, sadly. If you’re in need of some more inspiration on how to make the most out of 2016, then head over to my sister’s fresh new blog ( here) that’s filled with fantastic tips.
