Today I want to address a topic that’s been crossing my mind a sprinkling of times and this prompted questions that have to be replied. So this is about so-called blogger events and why you won’t see me at any of these any more here in Luxembourg. Don’t worry this will not turn into a brat’s hate-speech, I’m just expressing my own, personal opinion and if you disagree with it, that’s fine with me as well, if not to mention, I don’t care if you disagree with me 😉

Last year that one or other event popped up where several bloggers were invited to and this included store openings, exclusive launches, special blogger-days and other stuff. And I was overly excited to finally meet some like-minded people that I could exchange myself with and have a real good time. It was thrilling and refreshing that bloggers finally got paid attention to and it actually felt a bit rewarding as well. So I went to a few of these events, I think around three or four, and, sadly, came to the conclusion that they’re absolutely not what I was expecting, not to say, they were plain boring. I realized that it’s always the same, lame, high-snobiety clientele, drinking champagne in plastic glasses and being superficial as can be while taking good care to be seen by everybody: Look at me,I’m here and you’re not! Could I identify myself with these people? No I couldn’t.

While at these happenings, there’s of course a few people I met that I appreciate and that I connected with, but I seriously wasn’t feeling the rest of them. Believe me when I say that I can smell an affected hello from a mile away. I’m also pretty good at reading somebody’s face and body-language ,so don’t try to fool me on this because you’ll lose. Spending my free time with two-faced people? No way Jose.

Besides that, I also started wondering why in the world would I bore my readers with an article about a store or an event that didn’t even interest me to the fullest? Why bother going to an opening if I know that I’ll never shop there because it’s either not my style, I don’t feel linked to the brand or it’s out of my budget ?Wouldn’t that be dishonest?I guess it actually would be. And it’s awful to see that so many have this go-ahead-and-sell-your-soul-to-the-devil-type of attitude.

I started blogging around 4 years ago for the sake of fun and I’m still doing it for fun. If that one or other opportunity arises, I sometimes agree with it if I can relate myself to the brand, their offer and their concept. Everything that’s not my cup of tea is getting rejected. And it’s a lot, trust me. I just don’t feel like I need to attend any type of boring press-event and hop on every train only to call myself a blogger.

Honestly I’ve also never been a person to go with the crowd. Blogging is a thing on it’s own and seeing people act all desperate for invites and goodie-bags only to show them off on Instagram later, just ruins the whole idea behind blogging for me to be honest. I’m here to share my style, my passion, ideas and thoughts and that’s it. I don’t care about goodies, champagne, freebies, fame whatsoever, but what I do care about is enjoying time with people I like, that share the same point of views and that are fun to be with.

If I offended anyone with this, then I’m sorry but I’m not sorry, I’m just being honest and speaking up my mind :) With that being said I wish you a pleasant day!

PS I tend to go only to events I really like or for brand I would buy.. Because otherwise it is too boring indeed :) If all the bloggers followed this rule, I am sure conversation will be more interesting :)

Yeah I also think so.There’s of course nothing wrong with going to events where you like the brand and where you can identify yourself with their style, but I don’t see a point in running to every single thing just for the sake of it :)

The events I’ve been to in Luxembourg definitely gave me mixed emotions – one or the other seemed super fun (gutted i couldn’t make it to the Lush workshop!), but most of them really are what you described – boring athmosphere, awkward champagne drinking and wondering what’s gonna happen. In comparison, the events I’ve been to in London seemed way more blogger oriented, as there was plenty to do (photobooths, nail bars, workshops, celeb appearances etc) – maybe as blogging is quite new to Lux, they just haven’t really adapted to this.

PS. regardless of the event, 99% time I don’t blog, instagram or tweet about it – who ever said that was a requirement/expectation anyway? 😉

      Hi Kristiana
Thank you for taking the time to write something down. I really appreciate it as I consider you as a blogger of the first hour with lots of experience. I’ve seen some of the events you went to through your social media or even on your blog and they definitely looked like lots of fun with all the different activities they had on display, like everything but stiff.
When I was in Munich for the press-days it was also a whole different thing, there was so much going on that it was even a bit overwhelming and it was so much fun.
I just think that the organizers of these events are still taking too much care to please their v.i.p clients who love drinking champagne and doing nothing and maybe that’s why nothing’s ever gonna happen during these evenings :)

As for your PS: Of course you don’t have to,but I just felt a bit guilty at first for not doing it since they were so kind as to invite me and stuff so I didn’t want to be rude. But how do they say: You learn from your mistakes :)

I’m neither a blogger nor do I plan to become one but I like to follow and read one or the other. Of course these post-blogger-event-posts also appeared in several of the blogs I read and you know what, you are so right, that was exactly my impression.
And my opinion didn’t change with the following posts. Fake, superficial, pretentious people looking down on everybody else not wearing the newest most expensive ‘dernier cri’ fashion. And guess what, I’m not even jealous. They’re pitiful.
You’re doing it right, stay true to yourself!
And also my entire respect for your achievements in weight loss and body transformation.
    Have a good day :)

      Hi Sandy,
Wow,thank you so much for your comment :) It’s super nice to finally get some feedback from a person who lives ,,outside the blogger world” and somehow I find it a bit sad that you have the same impression as I. This totally reassures me that things aren’t going in the right direction and that’s why I distance myself from all of this.
I also don’t see a point in being jealous because there is nothing to be jealous of. It’s insane how people can smile at your face and the moment where you haven’t even turned around they start gossiping about you. It’s definitely nothing anyone needs in their life.

And thanks so much for these nice words on my weight-loss, this totally motivates and makes me so happy :))
      Wish you a wonderful day
